I probably won't, as the users have removed the file externals and are working around this using a build step or something. Seems unlikely to be fixed in 1.6 if it was only fixed as a consequence of the WC rewrite.
Side question... Now that there is a proliferation of mergeinfo, is it safe to leave, in the (usually vain I find) hope that it will get ellided, or is it OK to just remove it from the branches?
