The 6.12 kernel has changed the way virtualisation modules are loaded. Some discussion, with workarounds, here:

(I only use VirtualBox occasionally, to run a Windows XP VM which I've never managed to get working with KVM. Otherwise I prefer Virtual Machine Manager.)
