Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 25.04 with RTX 5090 Laptop, the screen shows corruption, nvidia-smi doesn't see any NVIDIA GPUs, and when in hybrid mode, while Intel GPU is working, I still can't access NVIDIA GPU.
Nvidia SMI output: NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running. lspci | grep NVIDIA output: 02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: NVIDIA Corporation GB203M / GN22-X11 [GeForce RTX 5090 Max-Q / Mobile] (rev a1) Not even worth mentioning that there's no output to the external monitor ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 25.04 Package: xorg 1:7.7+23ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.14.0-15.15-generic 6.14.0 Uname: Linux 6.14.0-15-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.32.0-0ubuntu5.1 Architecture: amd64 BootLog: Error: [Errno 13] Permission denied: '/var/log/boot.log' CasperMD5CheckResult: pass CompositorRunning: None CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Fri Jun 6 17:09:00 2025 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: plucky DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: nvidia/575.57.08, 6.14.0-15-generic, x86_64: installed ExtraDebuggingInterest: Yes, if not too technical GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation Arrow Lake-S [Intel Graphics] [8086:7d67] (rev 06) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:8010] NVIDIA Corporation GB203M / GN22-X11 [GeForce RTX 5090 Max-Q / Mobile] [10de:2c58] (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Lenovo Device [17aa:8010] InstallationDate: Installed on 2025-04-29 (38 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 25.04 "Plucky Puffin" - Release amd64 (20250415.3) MachineType: LENOVO 83F5 ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 PATH=(custom, no user) SHELL=/bin/bash TERM=xterm-256color XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-6.14.0-15-generic root=UUID=d7638862-0dea-4760-aebc-40da87bcd5fc ro quiet splash crashkernel=2G-4G:320M,4G-32G:512M,32G-64G:1024M,64G-128G:2048M,128G-:4096M vt.handoff=7 SourcePackage: xorg Symptom: display UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 04/30/2025 dmi.bios.release: 1.37 dmi.bios.vendor: LENOVO dmi.bios.version: Q7CN37WW dmi.board.asset.tag: NO Asset Tag dmi.board.name: LNVNB161216 dmi.board.vendor: LENOVO dmi.board.version: SDK0T76528 WIN dmi.chassis.asset.tag: NO Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: LENOVO dmi.chassis.version: Legion Pro 7 16IAX10H dmi.ec.firmware.release: 1.37 dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnLENOVO:bvrQ7CN37WW:bd04/30/2025:br1.37:efr1.37:svnLENOVO:pn83F5:pvrLegionPro716IAX10H:rvnLENOVO:rnLNVNB161216:rvrSDK0T76528WIN:cvnLENOVO:ct10:cvrLegionPro716IAX10H:skuLENOVO_MT_83F5_BU_idea_FM_LegionPro716IAX10H: dmi.product.family: Legion Pro 7 16IAX10H dmi.product.name: 83F5 dmi.product.sku: LENOVO_MT_83F5_BU_idea_FM_Legion Pro 7 16IAX10H dmi.product.version: Legion Pro 7 16IAX10H dmi.sys.vendor: LENOVO version.compiz: compiz N/A version.libdrm2: libdrm2 2.4.124-2 version.libgl1-mesa-dri: libgl1-mesa-dri 25.0.3-1ubuntu2 version.libgl1-mesa-glx: libgl1-mesa-glx N/A version.xserver-xorg-core: xserver-xorg-core 2:21.1.16-1ubuntu1 version.xserver-xorg-input-evdev: xserver-xorg-input-evdev N/A version.xserver-xorg-video-ati: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:22.0.0-1build1 version.xserver-xorg-video-intel: xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.99.917+git20210115-1build1 version.xserver-xorg-video-nouveau: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1:1.0.18-1 ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug corruption plucky ubuntu wayland-session -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2112653 Title: Lenovo Legion 7 Pro with RTX 5090 Laptop showing display corruption when in discrete mode To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/2112653/+subscriptions _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
