hello , I'm also experiencing this bug since some months I think that for my part it comes from compiz as explained in post#14
to solve the problem when i do have a general frezze, I do a : 1. CTRL+ALT+F1 2.Login as user. 3. sudo pkill compiz-decorator 4. pkill -9 compiz 5.
