Hi Nick, I just tried your PPA on a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.10 and the same thing happened in the end. I reboot into low graphics mode, where i am not even able to choose from one of the choices but am immediately thrown into a command line log in. There i am able to login and execute commands but not able to start X or anything. As said i have a intel hd3000 combined with radeon hd 6490m.
