This is a serious issue that has affected a large number of users. In the total absence of any formal word from the Ubuntu developers, I personally am very interested to learn of other users' experiences.
Furthermore, I would respectfully suggest that for new and inexperienced users, uncertain whether they should apply the upgrade or not, the experience of other people would be of great value in making an informed decision. I certainly do not consider users posting their findings conforms to any definition of "spam" of which I am aware.
