I have found a similar problem described for a different video card, look at bug 281486 .
I have applied the following workaround as described on the bug comments (it works): In order to do this, edit the /etc/gdm/Init/Default file (a script run @ the start of gdm), and insert a line similar to the following: xrandr --output VGA --auto Where "VGA" is the output name of your external monitor (can be found by looking at the output of "xrandr -q"). ** Summary changed: - Wrong resolution on ATI Radeon HD 4670 with an HDMI output device + Wrong resolution on ATI Radeon HD 4670 after connecting an HDMI output device -- Wrong resolution on ATI Radeon HD 4670 after connecting an HDMI output device https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/372911 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to linux-restricted-modules-2.6.24 in ubuntu. _______________________________________________ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : [email protected] Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
