I found that disabling HPET solves the problem. With HPET enabled, the touchpad seems less responsive. I also had HPET enabled in 7.04 (via boot params "clocksource=hpet hpet=force") and did not notice this behavior.
I tried with a usb mouse and I don't notice the behavior, even with HPET enabled.
