Same problem for me. I don't understand what is meant by running an id but all users can logon. I did modify firestarter before the problems started. Also, the syslog indicates that Network Manager appears to be trying to find a wireless connection but I don't have one on this computer. I cannot get so much as a screen if I use my direct connection to the internet. However, if I unplug the connection everything seems to work OK except various gmd problems. It seems to me that gmd is failing because of something going on the Network Manager.
