Can you please try to attach ~/.xsession-errors as well? To access the system, I'm not sure what you can do in the meantime. You might try creating a new user - maybe that will work. To do this, boot in "rescue" mode and use the "adduser" command. If this doesn't work,you might want to consider using a LiveCD to access your hard drive and providing the requested files
