Reinsating 'openoffice.org-l10n-en-za' caused the update to hang. So I looked a bit closer. Selecting/deselecting also selects/deselects other packages. Update manager was then slow to redisplay the selections. Once packages had been selected/deselected, the 'Update' option was greyed out and the cursor changed to 'in process' , I could reselect, or cancel out, but not update.
As you may have gathered from my vocab, I am no techie but is there perhaps some linkage between packages (dependencies??) that is causing the hang? The update manager is perhaps getting confused/lost in what it needs to upgrade? That said, synpatic from a terminal window works fine. -- Update Manager hangs in 8.04 LTS https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/239358 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
