Well, in Edgy (AMD64), there is only linux-image-2.6.17-10-generic, so I can't simply install an non SMP kernel.
Obviously, the kernel (2.6.17 and vanilla 2.6.18) causes some programs to behave strange: like the x-server, kde (the slow icon animation/opening problem, Bug #64325), firefox (tab switching takes several seconds). Using 2.6.15-23-amd64-generic #1 SMP solves the probles with KDE and firefox (programs in general just start up faster!!!), but even with this kernel I have this bug with randomly repeated keys. Writing this comment is pain already, cause it's nearly impossible to write a word without repeated characters. The status of this bug report is "Fix Released" - what does it mean? I don't see that this bug is fixed yet. -- Keyboard random repeat and dropped key presses https://launchpad.net/bugs/39315 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
