BTW i am running Kubuntu-hardy (8.04) which is upgraded from the hardy beta. Also the alsa module was built myself as suggested in #192382 bug's response as software control of volume was not working. (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/192382)
