Confirmed by code inspection. This is the fault of either partman-
basicmethods (which implements "don't use") or partman-lvm (which puts
the lvm flag back even after partman-basicmethods has told it to reset
the method). I'm not sure quite which yet.

** Changed in: partman-lvm (Ubuntu)
Sourcepackagename: parted => partman-lvm
   Importance: Undecided => High
       Status: New => Confirmed
