I uninstalled kdesudo and then ran dolphin in a terminal as root
sudo dolphin
On exiting dolphin I did not get a bookmarks error.
I then reinstalled kdesudo and reran dolphin .. the error is back again.
It is 6 months since this little bug was first reported and it is still
not properly fixed. Ah well, thanks for all you are doing anyways.
