I do not see how this is an ati driver issue. I was using ati 8.3
proprietary drivers in 7.10 the exact same ati 8.3 driver does not work
in 8.04 that would lead me to believe that something in 8.04 changed
since nothing changed on the ati side. Perhaps the new XORG or perhaps
a fat finger somewhere, I do not know as I am not that involved in the
coding world. I have since reverted back to 7.10 because it works,
without any issues.
Problems only found in 8.04
{Ubuntu) With propreitary ati drivers installed When screen locks the screen
will not unlock without a forced reboot

(Ubuntu) With propreitary ati drivers installed When Screen Saver
activates (any screensaver) one screen goes black and the other does
nothing, system will not work again in till system is forced rebooted.

(Kubuntu)With propreitary ati drivers installed the system hangs on shut
down or reboot

{Kubuntu)With propreitary ati drivers installed the screen saver dialog
box will not load

These issues only occurs in dual monitor mode, single monitor mode works
fine.

Also, I do have access to T61's they have the intel gma x3100 integrated
video and on 7.10 it loads the intel experimental modsetting driver. On
8.04 it refuses to use anything but generic VESA drivers. If you force
8.04 to use the intel experimental modsetting driver, upon reboot you
are faced with having to reconfigure via BulletproofX on Kubuntu if you
force the Intel experimental modsetting driver the computer boots back
to a black screen with a blinking cursor.

I have both 7.10 and 8.04 installed on both machines at this point. I
am hoping that someone will eventually fix it and I can leave my 7.10
behind. But as it stands 7.10 works and works well 8.04 doesn't work
with either ati or intel.
