That video is a flash clip BTW and has nothing to do with VLC.
Remove and reinstall flashplugin-nonfree. Then test if your flash-plugin is 
working here -->

However, sometimes firefox fails to play flash clips.
So, the bug is still there, although the following workaround seems to help.
I found that after closing all firefox windows and then reopening the page the 
clips are working again.
