Sebastien: This morning I completely WIPED one of my Ubuntu machines and I have since reinstalled Ubuntu/Gutsy from scratch.
Here is what I have found. It appears that this printing problem is being caused by some type of conflict between Gutsy's default document viewer (EVINCE) and the installation of Adobe's Document Reader for Linux. Because to this point I have not yet attempted to install the Adobe Acrobat Reader for Linux and as of right now, I can go to the VDOT website and pull up the form 760 and I can print it to a file and there are NO missing characters. However, I would be willing to bet you that as soon as I install the Adobe Acrobat Reader, that I will be missing character in the document if I attempted to print it to a file. However, for the time being I am not going to install Adobe Reader and leave well enough alone. But, please tell me, am I not supposed to be able to have both the default EVINCE and the Linux version of Adobe Reader installed on Gutsy at the same time without having this problem or is the simultaneous installation of the 2 programs not permitted ? If it is not permitted, you would think that I would be warned about a conflict !!! I wonder what will happen if I at this point, I uninstalled EVINCE from Synaptic and then installed Adobe Acrobat. I wonder if I will still have the missing character problem, i.e. must EVINCE be uninstalled from the system before the installation of Adobe Acrobat is performed ? Please let me know if you need anymore details.
