Josh, Istvan, did you tried to remove 70-persistent-net.rules as I suggested? If you keep the old one from gutsy it will not work! It has to be regenerated with the new hardy rules from 75-persistent-net-generator.rules. I've just removed that file and now I have no slowdown. Regarding stability I didn't notice anything strange.
