I'm sorry that I did not give enough information. As I said, at first, I saw no way to print in KDE 4 (since no printer was configured by CUPS). But then I found the "Printing" conifguration tool, in the System menu. So what I described in my second comment is not a bug of KDE, but of this application. So, here is what's going wrong: After starting the "Printing" tool, to install my printer (which sits at the parallel port), I click on "New Local Printer", which lets The "New Printer Dialog". Indeed, my printer is listed in the Select Connection List under "Kyocera FS-1010 LPT #1", so I click on it and select "Forward". In the next dialog I want to supply my own PPD file (which I obtained from the Kyocora website, and which works just fine with CUPS), so I click on "Provide PPD file". I click on the "..." button to select the file, but nothing happens (first bug). So, I type in the full path of the file manually, and click on Forward. But again nothing happens (second bug). I give up on supplying my own PPD file and select my printer from the list. I choose the recommended option "Kyocera FS-1010 Foomatic/Postscript [en] recommended". I click on "Forward" and it shows me a dialog box with the Printer Name, the Description (which is empty) and the Location (which is the hostname of my computer). I click on Forward, but nothing happens (third bug). So, I click on OK, which configures the printer. However, the driver does not work: The test page contains only garbage. BTW, in any dialog the Cancel button (and some other buttons) do not work (fourth bug). Also, there is no option to remove the printer, which I have just configured. I could do so only with the CUPS web interface. Can you reproduce this behaviour? I have attached my PPD file, but I conjecture that PPD support is broken altogether.
