New Information: The crash is not happening at startup, it is actually happening at shutdown. The crash report simply shows up the next time you log in. I had reinstalled edgy and had not yet put synergy into my startup program list but I had started it manually and everything worked fine. Then I rebooted and sure enough, there was the crash report, even though synergy was not in my startup list.
