2. In my test on Dell Latitude X300 the 'double lid action' made no change at all, it must be something specific to C610. 3. With Hardy Alpha 5 (Linux X300 2.6.24-8-generic #1 SMP Thu Feb 14 20:40:45 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux) and the default video driver the problem is still present - even if in knome power manager the action on lid-close is set to nothing the system will still crash. Also disabling 3D effects makes no difference. 4. What makes the problem CRITICAL is that with Hardy Alpha 5 there is no way to use the older i810 video driver (which in Gutsy was a perfect workaround).
