The objection Colin has is a valid one. Dependency inflation in the
Ubuntu distro is a pernicious and prevalent problem, and he is right to
be cautious. Contra to Alon's assertion, most folks in most parts of the
world don't need or want hardware cryptography support simply because
they don't have the hardware to do the work.

However, it's not all-or-nothing: The package could be compiled with the
support for smart card, with the dependency to opensc being "Suggested".
The default install would not drag in the extra package, but those who
need smart card support could install it.
