@daniel The flgrx version shipped with feisty (and gutsy I think) does not (officially) support compositing, so it is disabled. Are you using one of them? If so you could try setting Composite to 1 and installing xserver-xgl (no aiglx in feisty/gutsy as far as I know), but no guarantees...
