Hi Chris, Thanks for you detailed answer. From the point of view of the user, the system was updated and then stopped working. I understand that technically 'ubuntu-release-upgrader' is not the correct package to file this bug under, but this is a bug in Ubuntu nonetheless. Can you please direct me how to edit this bug so it is correctly filed?
The reason for filing this bug is simple: people like me who depend on their laptops for work cannot afford to have a simple system upgrade brick their device.
