I don't think "crash" is the right word here. There are very few crash reports from this machine and none appear relevant to this bug. Also the log files provided don't show any recent crashes other than one in Google Chrome. So I don't think that's related.
The symptoms you describe are more consistent with a sudden VT switch, as if Ctrl+Alt+F3/F4/F5... had been pressed. Which is further supported by the mention of "the keyboard mapping is completely corrupted". Please try a USB keyboard as a workaround as it may allow you to return to the lost desktop as simply as Ctrl+Alt+F2 or Ctrl+Alt+F1. ** Summary changed: - Hard crash of Wayland session (back to login/initramfs screen) when scrolling emails in Thunderbird. + Sudden loss of session (back to login/initramfs screen) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2152124 Title: Sudden loss of session (back to login/initramfs screen) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/2152124/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
