Public bug reported:
Hello,
Recently, I noticed that I'm currently unable to save attachments to
disk or even attach files on Thunderbird. I'm mostly reading and writing
plain text emails, and that's not an operation I often do, so I don't
know since when I have the issue.
I'm using Thunderbird beta 149.0b2-1 from Snap on Ubuntu Resolute,
kernel 6.19.0-6-generic. I don't think that's a Thunderbird issue, but
rather with apparmor (or Snap?).
For example, I can see a PDF file, but I cannot save it to the disk,
Thunderbird complains:
console.warn: "Saving FILE.pdf to /run/user/1000/doc/83d42ee7/FILE.pdf
FAILED." (new DownloadError("Could not write to
`/run/user/1000/doc/83d42ee7/FILE.pdf': failed to open file for writing
(NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND)", (void 0)))
And I can see this at the same time in the kernel logs:
kernel: audit: type=1400 audit(1772638998.972:429): apparmor="DENIED"
operation="mkdir" class="file" profile="snap.thunderbird.thunderbird"
name="/run/user/1000/doc/83d42ee7/" pid=13927
comm=4267494F5468727E506F6F6C202332 requested_mask="c" denied_mask="c"
fsuid=1000 ouid=1000
Note that this directory exists, owned by my user.
When I try to attach a file, I don't see any audit messages, but
Thunderbird prints this in the terminal:
JavaScript error:
chrome://messenger/content/messengercompose/MsgComposeCommands.js, line
8153: NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND: Component returned failure code:
0x80520012 (NS_ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND) [nsIFile.fileSize]
