Not having any log evidence of the system waking up is common. It
usually just means the filesystem journal wasn't flushed before the
reboot. To avoid this you can wait 10 seconds before rebooting and/or
press Alt+SysRq+S (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_SysRq_key) before
rebooting.

NVreg_PreserveVideoMemoryAllocations should be set already to avoid bug
1876632 which can also cause freezes. So you should never turn that off.
