Public bug reported:

HP Envy – Integrated webcam not detected under Ubuntu 24.04 with linux-
oem-24.04 (no /dev/video*, Intel IPU6 MIPI camera)

Description

On HP Envy laptops with Intel 11th-gen/12th-gen platforms, the
integrated webcam is not detected under Ubuntu 24.04 (both GA and OEM
kernels).

No /dev/video* devices are created.

lsusb shows no UVC webcam entry (this is a MIPI/IPU6 device, not USB).

journalctl -k shows uvcvideo driver loads, but no camera binding occurs.

The webcam works correctly in Windows 11 → confirms hardware is
functional.

This appears to require the Intel IPU6 driver stack and proprietary
firmware (ipu6-camera-bins), which are not yet available in Ubuntu 24.04
repos.

Steps to Reproduce

Install Ubuntu 24.04 with linux-oem-24.04.

Boot system and run:
