To add to the complexity, a lot of modern applications get access to cameras via portals, which AFAIK don't actually use typical paths or get mediated by AppArmor.
So to test behavior, we need to find a device which uses libcamera (I'll check a newish Dell XPS running Intel 13th gen), and we need to test with a snap which doesn't use portals. @Tobias could you please provide some more information about the device on which you hit this bug? Make/model/year/CPU would be very helpful. AFAIK libcamera is a newer system, originally on Intel but now being adopted more broadly.
