not the HWE 6.14 kernel?

I'm not aware that I picked a specific kernel. I installed Ubuntu 22 and
then did dist-upgrade to 24.04 LTS. Since then, I'm just using the
updater UI or "apt update / upgrade" on the command line when it's
stuck.

Apt tells me [installed, automatic] for the current kernel.

You probably refer to this package: linux-image-generic-6.14/noble-
updates,noble-security

I couldn't find any special instructions how to pick a kernel for
Ubuntu. Is it enough to manually install this package or can you please
give me link to a manual where I can see what I have to do?
