I have this happening in a fresh system. I think it can be frustrating for a non-so-experienced user, considering they are using vi instead of nano, that could be A problem when editing a config system or so. I ran a fresh container with multipass and the problem didn't happen because it uses vim.basic instead. Maybe do the desktop image using vim.basic too? The idea is to avoid having the user have such problems. Maybe there is another way, but the idea is make work out of the box.
