Public bug reported: Hello,
I have downloaded https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily- live/pending/questing-desktop-amd64.iso, created a Microsoft Windows 10 Hyper-V VM, gen2, with TPM enabled and tried to install the Ubuntu 25.10 on that VM using the ISO. During the installation, at the step: `Encryption and file system`, I cannot use the option `Use hardware backed encryption`, as it is greyed out with the following message: `not encrypting device storage as checking TPM gave: error with TPM2 device: TPM2 device is present but it is not a PC-CLIENT TPM.` The Hyper-V offers a virtual TPM2 implementation that should be compliant with the TPM2 spec - is there any reason why Ubuntu 25.10 cannot use it? The package is ubuntu-desktop-bootstrap, but the bug report page does not let me set it in the section `In what package did you find this bug?`, as it is a snap package. Thanks. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Description changed: Hello, I have downloaded https://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily- live/pending/questing-desktop-amd64.iso, created a Microsoft Windows 10 Hyper-V VM, gen2, with TPM enabled and tried to install the Ubuntu 25.10 on that VM using the ISO.
