Hello Daniel thanks for the quick reply.. Yes the problem occurs on standard 6.14 generic kernal as well.
The original bug was discovered on the official Ubuntu kernel (6.14.0-27-generic). I only tried the mainline 6.15.9 kernel as a troubleshooting step to see if the issue was resolved in a newer version, but the same "probe failed with error -1" occurred on both. *The issue is present on the standard 6.14 kernel that comes with Ubuntu.*All relevant BIOS settings (Primary Display PEG, ReBAR, Above 4G, etc.) have been checked and are correct. *On both kernels, lsmod confirms the nvidia module is loaded, but dmesg shows the probe fails.* shows this shut down On Wed, Aug 6, 2025 at 9:20 PM Daniel Letzeisen <[email protected]> wrote: > You're running an unsupported mainline kernel: 6.15.9-061509-generic > > Does the same problem occur with 6.14 generic kernel? > > -- > You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug > report. > https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2119608 > > Title: > NVIDIA driver loads but fails to probe on MAXSUN B650i AM5 motherboard > > Status in nvidia-graphics-drivers-550 package in Ubuntu: > New > > Bug description: > > The NVIDIA driver fails to initialize, making the GPU unusable. > nvidia-smi reports "couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver." > > The kernel log (dmesg) repeatedly shows the error: > nvidia 0000:01:00.0: probe with driver nvidia failed with error -1 > > This issue persists despite extensive troubleshooting to eliminate all > common configuration errors.
