Answering to Lukas:

> Why did Ubuntu start to deviate from the upstream behavior here?

a) XEN times and XEN/KVM host splits
b) Virt by default to be more a server sysadmin than an end user thing (it is
both, but what is it more?)
c) kept behavior people then liked and relied on

> Do we want to keep this, or revert to the default behavior (i.e. just
drop the profile.d snippet).

Yes, for the time being we want qemu:///system to be our default unless
users change things

> Or shall we try to find a way to properly configure the default URI
for system & session daemons via the "uri_default" setting (potentially
in multiple places)?

Yes, let us look for that a bit more.

[we continue some experiments and regular discussions from here on,
hopefully not forgetting it again]
