I tried disabling the integrated graphics card in the BIOS a few weeks
/ months ago but it did not change anything.

Today I moved the Nvidia card to another PCI slot and it seems to be
working fine. I have not experienced any freeze so far.

It might be a little soon, but for now, I can only assume your first
guess was correct and it is a hardware issue. The PCI slot the Nvidia
card was in before might be faulty.

The motherboard is still under warranty but I am not sure I will manage
to prove to the store that sold it to me, that this very PCI slot is
faulty because of the randomness of the freezes, when using a specific
display server under linux... (Everything works fine under Windows or a
X11 session, even rather heavy gaming.)

Again, thank you a lot Daniel! And please excuse me for taking up your valuable
time.
I would not have been able to isolate the issue without your help.

Kind regards,
Matt
