Indeed, this was removed in 2023 in version 0.9.4-4 and later [ Chris Hofstaedtler ] * [8c46661] Remove library development files and all of libdmmp. There are no users of the multipath libraries outside of multipath(d) itself. Recently qemu gained support for multipath reservations; when qemu wants to use this, the multipath-tools maintainers need to understand the ABI status. Disable building libdmmp completely, as no users seem to exist at all.
Which as an argument makes sense. There are soname 0 which are heavily used and there are others which you should never touch. I'm unsure if there have been discussions between multipath-tools and qemu folks about this, but raising such seems to be the right away. Better than: a) not enabling it ever fearing but not knowing if it might be bad b) just bringing back the lib and enabling it but not knowing if it might be bad -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2117378 Title: qemu-pr-helper doesn't have multipath support To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu/+bug/2117378/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
