Hello,
I have a brand new Dell XPS 14 (model 9440) running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS. There
is no audio output or input device detected, only a "Dummy Output" is available.
The dmesg log shows the following error:
sof-audio-pci-intel-mtl 0000:00:1f.3: SOF firmware and/or topology file not
found.
I have already tried the following steps without success:
Updated the BIOS to the latest version from Dell's website.
Installed the latest linux-oem-24.04 kernel.
Manually installed the latest sof-firmware binaries (v2.9) from
the official SOF project GitHub repository into /lib/firmware.
Tested the snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0 kernel parameter.
The problem persists after all these actions. It seems there is a
kernel driver issue with the new Intel Meteor Lake audio hardware on
this specific laptop model.
