They didn't architect their OS for multiple DEs that *already* exist.
This would be a comparably trivial endeavour for the KDE developers to
implement themselves if their stack were as monolithic as macOS or
Windows 11's are. One cannot have standardisation, a quick release, and
universal support simultaneously.
