Absolutely, agree with everyone who says this feature should be in KDE. Quite candidly, the entire landscape feels so amateurish and puerile to me. All this discussion about people writing scripts (in various scripting languages) to make ad hoc and somewhat band-aided "solutions" wreaks of amateur night--not ready for prime time.
If this feature cannot be implemented easily, then KDE (and the entire Linux platform for that matter) needs some serious architecture... and serious, experienced, seasoned architects....
