The Debian version with the exact same version number 4.1-1 is able to
print a colored calendar to the console. There is a small display bug
which colors the remaining line after the calendar, but the
functionality works.

Did the Ubuntu maintainer try to fix the Debian issue and borked the
fix?

I have attached a screenshot with the results of the Debian 4.1-1 ccal
(terminal: Konsole) similar to post #3 and #4.
