> Can you please experiment with modprobe.blacklist=nouveau? Unfortunately, no. The ASUS TUF Gaming laptop may need it to run the display. I suspect that because long ago the nvidia hardware got reset and the system could not recover from that cleanly. The result was a computer with dead screen but system that was still alive. If I remove nouveau and my screen gets disabled, I would have very hard time getting back on track as I don't have another computer I could use to download an Ubuntu Live CD, burn it to an USB, boot this computer and then fix the configuration to make it bootable.
I may try to run "modprobe rmmod nouveau" but I need to wait about 3 days while my long term processing job finishes just for case when it renders the computer screen dead and I have to reboot it. Or the nvidia driver crash (a kernel thread handling nvidia stuff starts to consume 100% CPU, the computer becomes barely responsible, need to reboot it), whichever comes first. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2098668 Title: fwupd daemon hangs for a while during TPM access To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fwupd/+bug/2098668/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
