Apologies. The 'white screen of death' is a white background (immediately following boot up attempt) with a sad face screen with the error "Oh no! Something has gone wrong. A problem has occurred and the system can't recover. Please contact a system administrator". As I am the system admin, of course this is disturbing...but not impossible.
