I think it was just a "bad" release of Ubuntu of some sort. Thanks for your concern.
Some final thoughts: Somehow a "false attribute" got into the filesystem when using 'Repair Filesystem' of Ubuntu 'Disks' utility, and hid all those files. After several days, the overnight maintenance of Windows fixed the issue. I doubt if Ubuntu had the capability to do the maintenance. Windows is full of maintenance routines (of which we often complain about) and Linux mostly relies on a design of a "straight-filesystem" - which this time wasn't. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2078283 Title: File system corrupt in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS (bad version ?)
