Thanks for creating the bug, and your input :) I agree with all your comments (though can't speak for your last message, I'm not getting strongswan-starter for some reason and I don't know anything about ansible) - but 1. I'm assuming we shouldn't need to edit /etc/strongswan.d/charon/resolve.conf ? We used not to. 2. Sometimes I'm connected over wifi, and sometimes over ethernet, and I'd like it to work for both, without editing the file. 3. A colleague suggested adding an extra interface, eg sudo ip link add vpn type dummy and putting "vpn" in as the interface name in that config file. Perhaps something like that could be done via hook scripts - but I'm hoping Tobias might have the answer!
