This bug is not fixed in Hardy Alpha-2. But it shows different behavior.

Rotation 180 degree will failed with the following message:

$ xrandr -o 2
Failed to change the screen configuration!

Rotation 90 or 270 degree will cause the screen turns black and the
monitor turns into sleep mode. Hitting ctrl-alt-backspace can kill the X
server.
