Hi Jose, I'm quite a linux newbie myself, but applying a patch seems to be an easy task, according to what I've read on the wikipedia under patch (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patch_%28Unix%29). On ubuntu, you have to install the package patch first, in order to apply the patch via command line. I'm also longing to try the patch, but so far I'm too busy with other stuff, so I root for you Jose! :-) good luck,
