same on my Dell G3 15 3590 no sound after updating to kernel 5.3.0-42. The 
mentioned workaround in #28 solves the issue for the speakers. However, only 
'snd_hda_intel.dmic_detect=0' was necessary.
I tested the mainline Kernel (5.5.11) with the same result but here one has to 
use 'snd-intel-dspcfg.dsp_driver=1' to the sound running again.

as in #28 the microphone is still not working yet but with the addition
of 'options snd-hda-intel index=0 model=laptop-dmic' to '/etc/modprobe.d
/alsa-base.conf' it appears for the first time.
