(THIS POST IS JUST ME STATING THAT I CHANGE THE SETTINGS IN GCONFIG. TO SKIP THE READ, VIEW THE ATTACHMENT ON THE SETTINGS I'VE USED TO GET MY LAPTOP TO STOP THE BLACK SCREEN)
Hello All, I found a way to fix this. I know nothing about writing patches or anything. I've only been on Ubuntu for about 4 months. But i found a way to fix the brightness dimming to a black screen. First let me say, i have a Gatewat T2080, just got it and i'm within the 14 day return policy. I almost took it back cuz i thought it was my Ubuntu and if it wasn't going to run Linux, i dont want it. But then i read this bug report. Here's what i did and i think this will work for many of you. hit Alt+F2, then type gconf-editor. Apps>gnome-power-management>backlight then change/adjust the settings as you please. this worked for me. i no longer get the backlight going blank on me. here are my settings. try them for you to see if they work for you: brightness_ac -- 100 brightness_battery -- 100 dpms_method_ac -- default dpms_method_battery -- default enable -- checked idle_brightness -- 90 the last 3 options are unchecked and idle time is 0. ***NOTE*** That while you are adjusting the times and brightness level, it MAY go black. just use your fn + F8 to brighten the screen and keep setting the levels. when you exit, it should not go dark anymore. i've done this and have yet to get the blank screen again. if i am repeating something already said, i'm sorry. and i hope this works for all until this issue is fixed. if it is fixed, please message me a patch or something. p.s.i also unchecked all my lowpower settings. ** Attachment added: "the attachment is a view of my power settings." http://launchpadlibrarian.net/10663848/Screenshot-Configuration%20Editor%20-%20backlight.png -- LCD backlight turns off when between discrete levels, both from hotkeys and from dim-on-idle. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/121833 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
