@Andreas: Look at [1] - in more recent versions also the sysV script
stopped looking at /etc/default/snmpd. Probably to fully decouple them.

Also the section in /etc/default/snmpd already says (at its top)
# This file controls the behaviour of /etc/init.d/snmpd
# but not of the corresponding systemd service file.
# If needed, create an override file in
# /etc/systemd/system/snmpd.service.d/local.conf
# see man 5 systemd.unit and man 5 systemd.service

So I think we are all good, except suggesting to (since it is fully
ignored now) drop the default file.
